In any MMO game, only a fraction of the characters players make ever see any real play in the game. Most just sit around in cold storage, growing beards of frost and learning how to knit sweaters. Xyson: Prelude is changing that up by defrosting those unused characters and sending them back into the world as a horde of zombies. Player zombies, who can loot what, or rather who, they kill. Ten Ton Hammer has the story.
That’s one way to solve the alt problem. This isn’t the first game I’ve heard about that does something with unused characters. I recall something about another game letting you hire out your alts as NPC party members to other people. I hope there’s an achievement involved with that, perhaps something that gives the player a sweet hat and cane.
I am really creeped out by this; and at the same time extremely amused. So, like a player-made pouring?
And that game with PCs hired out as mercenaries is Maestia, that will be coming sometime this year from alaplaya.
