Digital Extremes is lighting up this Halloween with its newest Tactical Alert: “The Hallowed Flame” on every platform.
This Tactical Alert, which includes Halloween-centric visuals and horrors, starts October 25 and runs until November 1.
To start the mission, simply look at the Warframe UI for the Tactical Alerts and join a mission.
Once in the mission, the spooky atmosphere is immediately apparent — it’s dark and impenetrably so, with the howls and gibbering of the Infested echoing through the halls of Orokin derelicts. There are also guttering Jack’o’lanterns scattered around the grimy halls, some of which detonate on destruction.
You will notice quickly that most of the Infested are invulnerable and you will need a way to strip that.
First, seek out the Zealoid, a strange enemy that holds a lantern. This lantern shields a radius of light that will shed the invulnerability of the enemies. As time goes on, the lantern’s light with dwindle and with it the radius of the light — however, enemies killed within its light will replenish it.
This mission acts as a type of Survival where the objective is to keep the lantern lit instead of life support.
The lantern is just like the objective from a Mobile Defense mission and can be held in your off hand — equipping your sidearm. The light will follow the player with the lantern (and thus the invulnerability stripping) so the team needs to stay near them.
You will drop the lantern if you swap away from your sidearm; but the lantern works just fine on the ground. This is a viable tactic for keeping the light in one place and letting hordes come to you. Although placement can be critical as the hordes move from time to time.
Rewards include an Orokin Catalyst, a Forma, and finally an Aura Forma. The final mission is an Endurance Mode and rewards the “Naberus Ephemera” — which makes you appear covered in bats — and a Stratos Emblem.
The missions will also have Grineer caches that have a chance to drop special Hallowed Flame gear, including Kuva or Day of the Dead sigils.
Log in for some spooky fun, Tenno!
