Christmas is canceled, too. Ubisoft games are caged by the shackles of uPlay, an online authorization service that works with the DRM they bolt on because customers must be treated like criminals. As it turns out, the uPlay server has gone down, taking with it any chance of playing Ubisoft games. Since this comes in the middle of the Steam Summer Sale, possibly the closest thing gaming has to a national holiday, people noticed. Oh, how they noticed. Kotaku has the story.
So far, it’s been 36 hours and no fix. The Ubisoft forums are up to 30 pages of complaints in one thread alone. Good times.
