The Wii U is Nintendo’s next-next generation console, which is apparently built around a DS handheld system bolted to a wiimote controller, and given a little extra horsepower. It’s a strange beast, and not everyone is comfortable with the concept. While odd controllers and mutant consoles have worked out well for Nintendo in the past, what exactly does this new Wii design do to justify its existence? Industrygamers has the story.
Like the Wii, I’m going to wait to see this thing in action before making any decisions. Nintendo has done well with its first-party games, but I’d really like to see some interesting third-party games that take advantage of the hardware before dropping mad dolla on this one. Maybe a Silent Hill game would do the trick. A good Silent Hill game. Maybe based around using the Wii U controller as a camera.
