Neverwinter Online, the Dungeons & Dragons MMORPG developed by Cryptic Studios, will be sending players directly to hell next year — but before that happens, the road to hell must be paved with events.
Starting tomorrow, November 21, the first pre-event for “Infernal Descent,” the upcoming module that will introduce the hellscape, players will participate in Hell Pit.
The event, which opens Nov 21 will close again on Dec 12 and will thrust players into an arena wave-based survival fight to the death against denizens of … well, the Hells.
For the duration of the event, players may succeed only once a day — players may join the event as many times as they want until they succeed. Every seven successes will increase the difficulty and the payout leading to a final showdown with the pit champion.
The event runs 21 days, a minimum of 14 successes is needed to gain access to participation rewards. Successes beyond 14 will yield additional tokens for additional rewards.
The minimum requirements are level 80 and an item level of at least 18,000.
This is a solo event. Players will not be able to join with a party. So be prepared and bring your best game to the fight — this is a fight against the champion of the Hells after all.
Achievement rewards include a golden-clad warhorse, a greater bag a holding, a runic bag of holding and a coalescent ward. Further participation rewards include a Legendary Insignia Choice Pack, armor and weapon enchantments and marks.
The upcoming Infernal Descent module looks appealing and very must filled with fire and brimstone, so it’s appropriate that the pre-events leading to this expansion copy that theme. It’s uncommon for Neverwinter to introduce solo-only content, being an MMORPG, but this does well to hammer home the solitary terror that is coming in January.
Prepare to enter the Hell Pit, champion! But first, further information is available on Neverwinter Online’s blog post about the event.
