Rayman is an ancient character, built and trained to fight on the Mascot Front of the Console Wars. Unlike many of his peers, Rayman survived those battles, and lives to this day. Publisher Ubisoft has recently sent him out to fight again in the multi-console release, Rayman Origins. The internet says Rayman Origins is old-school sidescrolling platformer goodness, but the internet is a den of jackals. When I want game reviews, I go straight to the source. USA Today has the story.
The most interesting thing here isn’t in the review. It’s something called the UbiArt Framework, a technology for playing around with video game graphics. Apparently, it cuts down massively on the manpower needed for graphical doings. Graphics are a huge stumbling block in the development process, and anything that smooths out those rough edges can only mean cheaper games, delivered more quickly.
