Nintendo’s next console, the Wii U, is still a bit of a mystery. The biggest question is one of price, like, how much will the thing cost? Nintendo has been very good at not telling anyone the answer, but they’ve recently dropped a hint. The failed launch of the 3DS handheld forced Nintendo to slash the asking price on the system, and they’d seriously like to avoid a repeat with the Wii U. Given that, Nintendo will be pricing the new console relatively cheaply. Estimates run from 250 to 300 human dollars. GameSpot has the story.
That price would be fine for a next-gen console, if the horsepower is there. If the Wii U has the power to run straight ports across from other consoles, it should do well. Now, if the Wii U takes after its father and needs special sandbox porting, then we’ll be seeing a real problem over at Nintendo.
