Twisted Metal didn’t create the car combat genre, but the original game and its early sequel did define what car combat could be. They were fast, wild, and offered as many hidden combos and moves as any fighter game. Later games in the series didn’t deliver, but now we have a reboot of sorts on our hands. How does the new Twisted Metal fare? GameInformer has the story.
Twisted Metal 2 was the peak of the series, I think. There was something in that game, a style, a depth. Watching two skilled players go head to head was like watching a metal ballet with missiles. It was a dance of position, move, countermove, attack, and defense. I haven’t really seen anything so impressive since. Can this new game match that standard?
