Microsoft and NASA have teamed up to make a video game of the Mars Rover landing. The game is set to come out on Xbox 360 and it works with Kinect. Your job is to guide the rover to a safe landing as it plummets through the Martian atmosphere on a pillar of fire. Somehow, I doubt the game rates you on biggest crater or best explosion. The game is available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Kinect Central. Check out the screenshot slideshow in the article. Space.com has the story.
The one thing NASA needs is an image makeover. When your space agency is the most boring pack of suits in the government, something is wrong. Working with Xbox to make space video games is a good start, but people who throw robots across the solar system to other planets should be science rock stars. We need something more inspiring.
