Virtual reality is coming. We gamers spend quite a lot of time in new worlds, but for all their graphics and sounds, video games aren’t virtual reality. Yet. New technologies like Google’s Glass and John Carmack’s VR goggles project are leading the way, while walk-in simulation machines are being built for big companies and the military. It’s the Matrix for me, if only because pumping false sensations into someone seems a lot easier than creating a whole physical reality around them, holodeck style. Then again, if someone does come up with a holodeck, I’d be very interested in meeting them.
