Left 4 Dead 2 is a great game of survival and zombies and chugging pills. It’s also open for modding, and so the fan community has created a number of maps and missions for players to enjoy. One of those is Cold Stream, an extension of the campaign set in a forest along a river. PC gamers can download Cold Stream for free, of course. Gamers on the Xbox? Well, they have to pay. Why should Xbox players have to pay for free content? GamesRadar has the story.
Gamers have to pay because content updates aren’t cheap on the Xbox. It can cost 40-thousand dollars and up for a company to put out a new update, thanks to Microsoft’s fee and certification process. Of course, you’d think Valve could handle that cost, and make it back ten times over on new sales kicked up by the publicity. Then again, maybe multi-million dollar game companies are a little strapped for cash these days.
