Overlapping goals, I think. It’s what happens in a game when there’s always a bunch of things to do, and no defined way to go about doing them. Raise your skills, enchant your weapon, hunt down a guy, find a certain temple, decorate your house, mod the game, and so on. It adds up, and traps you in the game.
