BioWare’s flagship MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic has been staring down the barrel of a shrinking player base for some time. Possible solutions are floating around, rumors of going free to play and the like, but one thing can be confirmed. Rich Vogel, the executive producer who oversaw the development of SWTOR, has left the building. The exact circumstances of his departure are unknown. However, a wave of layoffs has followed on the heels of his disappearance, which isn’t a good sign for the future of any MMORPG. Gamasutra has the story.
What do you mean an MMORPG with a linear story that can be finished in a month is losing players? What’s this endgame thing you speak of?
Sigh. I still miss Galaxies.
