Are you ready for some ouuuuuutraaaaaaaage?! In a video played at the recent BlizzCon, Cannibal Corpse singer, George ‘Corpseater’ Fisher, discussed his opinions about the Alliance using some rather strong language. Strong enough, in fact, that the gay community has taken the references to various interesting activities personally. Blizzard’s house band, Level 90 Elite Tauren Chieftain, has released an apology. Game Politics has the story.
While the gay community has suffered real injustices and has a long road ahead of them to find equality in the world, I just have to say, really? This sort of drama is why people hate the Alliance. Grow some skin, learn what’s a real insult and what’s just descriptive language, and join the Horde.
If the actual quote is what is reported in the comments section of GP, then this is obviously a ridiculous drama-whoring overreaction. The poor judgement of running a guest speaker from Cannibal Corpse aside; nothing he said doesn’t reflect the contemporary language usage of players in the game.
Behold, a wild relephant! http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/08/17
I don’t think this is how Blizzard wanted to portray themselves, but there we go.
