Indie game developer Atomic Lollypop launched its newest game, POWER, a procedurally generated competitive online-multiplayer shooter to Steam Early Access.
POWER features fast-paced action, procedurally generated and destructible terrain, where players are pitted against one another with powerful weapons and jetpacks at their disposal. The ordinance is so overwhelming that it can obliterate mountaintops.
“POWER is a breath of fresh air for 3D competitive online shooters. It combines unique game mechanics in ways that have never been done before,” said Alex Wormuth, founder of Pixels Gaming, publisher for POWER. “Playing POWER leaves you feeling nostalgic yet energized for more.”
This title represents the first game published by Pixels Gaming, a video game streaming community organizer and extensions developer. After rebranding recently, the company has also stepped into the indie games publishing space.
The graphics of POWER uses a low polygon appearance to appeal to an older gaming aesthetic, but at the same time, it makes it easier to destroy the procedurally generated terrain. Players will move through rugged landscapes, launch over vast bodies of water, and dodge around trees bearing polygon canopies – possibly to blast gaping holes in any of these objects either in an attempt to defeat their enemies.
This destructible terrain can also be used to carve out caverns as a means of escape or to create locations that could be used to ambush.
The game also features survival-style looting, with powerful weaponry and equipment littered around the terrain. That way, when players enter the procedurally generated environment everything will be new each time and how the battle plays out is a mixture of the skill of each player and the luck of what items, and terrain attributes, spawned in their vicinity.
“POWER has developed an incredibly engaged community and fan base that are helping us to improve the game every day,” said Kevin Bikhazi, co-founder of Atomic Lollypop. “We look forward to the future of POWER and continuing to bring new features and game modes into it.”
Atomic Lollypop consists of two people, Kevin Bikhazi and Abel Korsmit, who together developed POWER – including its organic-looking procedurally generated terrain, destructible environments, and fast-paced gameplay – in Unreal Engine by starting with only $500 and an imaginative idea.
With the support of publisher Pixels Gaming and esports news hub Esportz Network, Atomic Lollypop’s game POWER has been introduced to a network of over 50,000 streamers and can now be bought and played anywhere around the globe with an Internet connection.
POWER is available today on Steam Early Access for $14.99. It is only available for PC, but it can also be played on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive virtual reality headsets.
