Depression is a huge threat to teens, even to gamer teens. A video game, SPARX, may help train teens and other players to fight back against the negative effects of depression. The game works by sending the player through worlds where they have to overcome challenges using the same skills a sufferer must use to overcome negative thoughts and emotions. WebMD has the story.
Depression is a dangerous thing. No one who hasn’t experienced it can know what it’s like for all your thoughts to turn on you, and their responses that you should just be happy or get over it do nothing but give you even more excuses to cut yourself off from the world. A video game that can help fight depression is a huge help. They should probably still run it by a for-real game designer, though. Then put it on Xbox Arcade.
