SecuROM is a DRM system widely hated by gamers for its amazing ability to screw up computers and prevent legitimate customers from playing the games they have purchased. It’s so much trouble that a lawsuit was actually filed against EA for using it in the evolution-themed game, Spore. Now, efforts from Reclaim Your Game have revealed that SecuROM is built into Mass Effect 3 and EA’s Origin service. The most interesting thing here is that this version of SecuROM is built to hide itself. Game Politics has the story.
Of course, nowhere does Mass Effect 3 advertise this wonderful feature, I wonder why? If you’ve been having problems loading or playing ME3 for no apparent reason, well, mystery solved.
