Most gamers think about growing up to work in the game industry. I mean, who doesn’t have an idea for a game? Only a fraction of those gamers who try for that brass ring actually catch it, though. What does it take to make it in the gaming business? Jamie Hall takes a moment to discuss the traits you’ll need to land a job in the biz. Oh yeah, a great mod or two under your belt doesn’t hurt, either. Gamasutra has the story.
That said, keep in mind the game industry is a little like the movie business, with less maturity and bigger egos. It is a rough, uncertain world of paranoia and layoffs around every corner. The industry is fueled by the anguished screams of the souls it grinds down to dust.
Just something to think about.
Don’t we already work in the gaming industry?
I don’t think “pointing and laughing at” counts as “working in.”
